Our story

Inspired by their work with Kinect computer vision technology, founders Aman Gupta and Imran Shafqat set out to create a platform that would make factory data actionable.

thingtrax began in 2015 at a Cisco and University College London accelerator. Today, we’re a full-stack vision AI platform helping producers automate inspection and reduce waste at scale.

Our team combines deep manufacturing backgrounds with enterprise software expertise and years of AI development experience – from the University of Oxford, Oracle, IBM, Microsoft and beyond. We’ve been in your shoes, and we’ve built a platform that works the way factories actually work.

Aman Gupta

Co-Founder

Inspired by insights from his family’s manufacturing business, Aman co-founded thingtrax in 2015. He brings 10+ years in business analysis, R&D leadership, solution architecture, and agile development methodologies at industry giants like IBM and Microsoft. As CPO at thingtrax, he guides the direction of our product, R&D and coordination with Imran’s development team.

Imran Shafqat

CTO & Co-Founder

Imran brings 10+ years leading enterprise software development for organisations such as the National Bank of Kuwait, the UK Supreme Court, and Rolls-Royce. As CTO at thingtrax, he leverages his deep expertise in building our platform and managing mission-critical business solutions.

Paul Reader

CEO

With 16+ years building high-growth, multinational technology ventures, Paul is a seasoned leader in the industry. He has held CEO and COO roles at venture capital-backed startups, including University of Oxford AI spin-out Mind Foundry, and he’s held positions at leading Silicon Valley tech firm Oracle, bringing strategic vision and deep operational execution expertise to every stage of growth.

Ciaran O’Donnell

Ciaran joined thingtrax in December 2020. With experience advising over 100 startups and scale-ups, he was named CFO/Finance Director of the Year at the British Accountancy Awards in 2019.

Leanne Howard

Sales Director (UKI)

Leanne brings 15+ years’ experience selling technology software solutions to manufacturing businesses. Prior to joining Thingtrax, she held roles with global organisations including Lectra and IBM, where she specialised in delivering enterprise technology solutions to the manufacturing sector.

As Sales Director at Thingtrax, she leads the sales function with a clear focus on revenue growth, pipeline development and building long-term partnerships with food producers, helping them deliver measurable operational improvements through data-driven technology.

Allan Carney

Allan joined thingtrax in 2021, bringing with him deep expertise in continuous improvement and Lean Six Sigma practices. With 16+ years of professional experience, he has held leadership roles in technology adoption and continuous improvement at companies such as LINPAC Packaging, Aimia Foods Ltd., and Nice-Pak International.
